IDs and credit cards

Are you always asked to show your ID when you pay with your credit card?
It makes me worried when I am not asked to, especially when it says on the back "picture ID required" and that gets ignored... Well... it does make me happy when I don't have an ID on me (which unfortunately happens regularily =( ...) But it is alarming! Anyone can use my credit card in case I lose it and don't notice that in time.

Beijing Games Finish

2008 Summer Olympic Games finished. It is the time to total up.
China topped the medals table at the Beijing Olympics with 51 golds while the United States came second with 36 and the Russian Federation finished third with 23.

They were followed by Great Britain (19), Germany (16), Australia (14), South Korea (13), Japan (9) and Italy (8) while France, Netherlands and Ukraine won seven gold medals each.

Nine countries – Canada, Poland, Hungary, Norway, Brazil, Czech Republic, Slovakia, New Zealand and Germany won three gold medals each.
Nine more countries won two gold medals each. They were Cuba, Kazakhstan, Denmark, Mongolia, Thailand, North Korea, Argentina, Switzerland and Mexico.

Classic Literature - yes or no?

I was recently very impressed with my friend who quoted a piece from William Shakespeare!... It was so beautiful! Enchanting words of love, real passion... I guess I'm in a romantic and reflective mood today, so I started meditating on this subject. I asked myself some questions that I'm offering you now.
Were you a good student in school that read all the books teachers required? Do you read any books now? Do you remember any poems? Can you name any authors and their works?...
Do you think it's something you should know? Or is it just extra information that you don't really need to keep in your head? Do you think it's something that helps you to develop? Or you just like to get fast information from online?
It's definitely easier to just watch a movie or look through a magazine than spend several hours reading a book, especially in a language that's now difficult to understand for an average adult not to say anything about teenagers. Is there any value in literature for you or in our high speed technical era it's irrelevant and out-of-date?

Women's Beach Volleyball

Today the American duo of Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor proved that they are the best-ever team in the history of the fledgling Olympic sport. By beating China's Wang Jie and Tian Jia in the final of the Women's Beach Volleyball competition, Walsh and May-Treanor won their second gold medal and remained undefeated in Olympic competition.
It is anticipation and speed which set Walsh and May-Treanor apart. They are always thinking one step ahead, which allows them to save more points than most. There was one piece of play today when the hulking Wang jumped up and prepared to fire her fist into the ball, but the 188cm-tall Walsh had already turned around and was motoring towards the back of the court.

It is still unclear whether Walsh and May-Treanor intend to compete at London 2012. If they can maintain their high levels of speed and anticipation, then they have a strong chance of winning a third gold medal. As they have proven in Beijing, the gap between them and the rest of the field is as wide as ever.

No matter how much I keep eating healthy nutritious food, I still crave an "All-American" hot dog from time to time. (Even though I usually regret it later!)
